Thanks for introducing Aunt Maggie's teacakes to everyone. Teacakes are really the best! As a child, I remember going to the country to visit my Grandparents, Mamma Maggie and Papa Earl. Those were some of the best memories of my life as a child. We could not wait until the teacakes were ready, and when they were we would take them off the plates when the adults backs were turned as if they didn"t know what we were doing. There is nothing better than sitting on a country porch on a summer night churning ice cream, children playing and listening to stories. Thanks for reminding me of these great days and nights.

I love baking and Tea-Cakes is one that I try to made from my Grandmothers rememberence, but I do not come close. My mother who is 88 says, “Well, it’s sugar, butter, vanilla, eggs.etc.”..the basic sugar cookie indgeterients, so far. But, there is something missing. It could be lemon and vanilla mixed together??? I’, still trying to come up with something similar. You know, it could be when you’re young everything taste good…but that cannot be, because how can so many people never forget those “Tea-Cakes” of yesterdays. I can’t wait to purchase your cookbook. Thanks for keeping us Tea-cake lovers searching for an old family treat from long ago.

@Dera, could not have made this happen without all the wonderful support! Your anecdote was a valuable contribution, I appreciate you!

@Debra, I really hope you enjoy the recipes!

@Madrew, you read it correctly! You will receive two emails -one that will ask you to confirm your request and the second will have the PDF of The Big Cookie Roundup. The Big Cookie Roundup is 235 pages of wonderful cookie recipes. Come back and let me know how your husband likes the cookies!

@Patricia, it was wonderful to combine my love of cooking and family. So many traditions have been lost and cooking, family and stories are such an important part of our traditions. I really hope you enjoy the book and the recipes.

I thought that I was the only person in the world who would die to get a home made tea cake. I still today at the tender age of 42 beg my 84 year old mother to bake me some tea cakes. She has so many ways to make them. I have seen her make them with syrup and honey, etc. I have yet to find someone who makes tea cakes like my mom. The people in the community used to offer to pay her to make them dozens of tea cakes, but she would do it for free. My mom also makes the world’s best banana pudding. That might be a good idea for your next cook book project, collecting the african-american version of the banana pudding recipe.
